A couple of months ago when I was at the Predator factory for some reason or another I saw that they were coming out with a very basic but classic looking cue, I asked them to put one on order for me since they were a few months until production. Well, this week of all weeks Roderick told me that the cue I wanted was ready for pick up if I was ready for it….no need to tell me twice!! This week my birthday was on Wednesday so I regarded it as the perfect gift to give myself, I am a sucker for a new cue and the timing couldn’t have been better.
The cue I have is Model #1 of the Quiet Roller Cue series which has an Ebony forearm and butt sleeve with a Cocobolo wrap section, it also has nicely done accent rings (Maple I think) above and below the Cocobolo piece. The cue I received is slightly different since the shaft has a thin collar like the P2 instead of the thicker collar as pictured, the shaft joint area has a full phenolic plug which improves feel and increases the longevity of the shaft which is very nice.
Everyone who has seen the cue really likes it and those that have hit with it REALLY like it, in fact someone wants to buy the exact same model because he likes it so much. It looks and feels a lot like a custom cue, the wood selected is very pretty and the only thing that gives it away as a production cue are the logos in specific locations. It is very well balanced and even though it is light, 18.2-18.5 ounces depending on the shaft, it hits solidly and with a nice tone.
The tone of the cue is something I am very particular about and so the first couple of things I did was to replace the tips and modify the bumper which is pictured below. The feel and sound of a cue are very important to me and a cue without a bumper has a higher and louder pitch so I cut out the middle of the rubber piece and glued it back in place, that way it protects the bottom of the cue but allows the soundwave to exit the cue unmuffled. The opposite principle is the “X-1 Limbsaver”which muffles the sound and reduces vibration which mutes the feel, why someone would want that in a situation where feedback is so important is a mystery to me.
Anyways, this cue is basically perfect in my eyes and has brought a new life back into my game, lately I haven’t been playing as much but the new cue has made me want to play more than ever. Aesthetically it is a simple cue but perfectly executed and the colors are fantastic, it performs very well and hits very solidly with little vibration and a nice ping to it. To say I am in love with it may be a stretch but I guess it’s as close as you can get for an inanimate object, maybe it’s a sign that I need to get out more and start dating again? Ha ha…………..ha.

Last night we spent some time at the local nudie bar and had some drinks, went to see my favorite Chinese little girl since she worked the day shift and started celebrating early. Got a couple of dances and had some shots with good friends while having a great time eating pungent wings and tasty fries, thank you to everyone that came out!!
Today I also get one of the best birthday gifts ever for a single guy………a new cue. Roderick is helping me out and picking one up today before we meet up at Bankshots, there is nothing like a new cue to play with!!
Tonight Sarah and Butch are cooking a delicious gourmet dinner complete with lobster and some things I can’t pronounce or spell, after that there will be hot-tubbing and good conversation. Turkey day will also be spent with them which reminds me that I need to pack some clothes, good thing I’m writing today otherwise I would have forgotten for sure.
Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, age is just a number but damn that number is starting to scare me!!

I don’t know where this came from but I love it.
I know a girl who broke up with a guy and she told him she wanted to “still be friends.” He said, “No thanks.” She wondered why he couldn’t fall back to being just friends after they had a romantic relationship. I came up with the “McDonalds Analogy” to try and explain it in a simple way that would help all women understand this tough question.
Imagine if you went to McDonalds a lot and ordered a Big Mac Combo meal. A Big Mac, Large Fries and a Coke. You really like this meal. One day, you pull up to the drivethrough and order the Big Mac Combo meal and the girl tells you, “I’m sorry – you can have the Big Mac and the Coke, but you can’t get fries with that anymore.” You think about this for a moment, and sure – the Big Mac is the centerpiece of the meal, but McDonalds has some really good fries and you like their fries with your meal. So you say, “I’ve been able to get fries with that before, why can’t I have fries with my Big Mac combo anymore?” The girls says, “Well, I just think it is better if you only have the Big Mac and the Coke from here on out.”
At this point, a lot of guys are going to go to Wendy’s or BK and see if they can get fries with their combo at that drivethrough window. But there are some guys who REALLY like McDonalds Big Macs and they might think, “If I keep coming here and ordering the Big Mac and Coke, maybe she’ll change her mind and give me some fries with that later.” So they will keep on getting the combo without the fries until the deal breaker happens: One day that guy is going to order the Big Mac and Coke and then he’s going to pull up a little bit to pay, and someone else is going to pull up to the drivethrough speaker and order the “Big Mac Combo” and he is going to hear the girl say, “Would you like fries with that?”
That’s why guys don’t like to be friends with a girl who breaks up with them.

Recently I took up training to work for a solar water heater company based here in Jacksonville named Solar 1st, training wasn’t paid but our trainer is AMAZING and I learned so much that it was a crime that I wasn’t paying them!!
Anyways, I went on my first lead last night and was coming directly from the training class to their house so I was nervous and excited to say the least. The name was wrong on the lead sheet and I was a little late leaving the training class, plus when I got there the Mrs. of the house was already cooking dinner. Immediately I started sweating since I knew my time was limited and I was about to get roasted, his shirt announced that he worked for the electric company and I late and called him by the wrong name already.
In the first 5 minutes of me being there she had said “we can’t afford anything”, “I’m unemployed”, “we don’t have any money!!”………so by that time I was for sure standing in a puddle of my own sweat. The demo we are supposed to do is about 20-30 minutes long but I threw that out the window and got straight to financials. Their house was as already efficient as could be especially since the Mr. of the house built it and he knew every trick in the book, there was really only one thing that could improve their electric efficiency and I focused on that.
To make a long story short, instead of the 10-15 minutes that I thought I had since they were sitting down to dinner shortly I wound up being there for over 4 hours and even sitting down to dinner with them. Here is a couple that makes their money from electricity and plumbing, she doesn’t have an income right now and planned to eat dinner at 5:15pm when our appointment was at 5pm. I am the most surprised out of anyone that I sold them anything and am happy to have met them for any reason, they are great people and obviously very generous and kind.
We gave away quite a bit in the deal so the commission won’t be the greatest but closing my first lead was great especially with the factors involved.
